Anti-Poaching Patrols and Dogs seized |
Good Afternoon Resident
Last week we attended reports of illegal hare coursing that started in North Herts ending up in East Herts boarding Stevenage. As a result 1 x known hare courser vehicle was seized for no insurance and will be now be crushed alongside two dogs that will now be rehomed and will receive some well-deserved rest and care. (Dogs rehomed after 'hare coursing' seen in North Herts | Royston Crow)
We also attended reports of poaching near Thundridge, that resulted in the death of multiple pheasants, despite a search by local officers, ROST and the National Police Air Service the offenders were not located. Following this ROST officers were then called to an abandoned dog near Widford that was wandering around a live carriageway, thankfully members of the public were able to secure the dog prior to our arrival. We suspected it was likely used in hare coursing events due to its breed and poor health, it also had several leg injuries and was taken to a local vet for treatment. He will be rehomed in due course as no owner was identified and was also not microchipped.
