New Royston and Royston Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant appointed

Dear Resident

A new sergeant has been appointed to lead the Royston and Royston Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Sergeant John Hickmott has joined the team based at the Melbourn Street station.

Sgt Hickmott joined the constabulary in 2005 as a Special Constable for 14 years before joining full-time. He has experience of both Intervention and Neighbourhood Policing at the ranks of PC and sergeant in both Stevenage and North Herts Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs).

He said: “As the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) Sergeant for Royston urban and Royston rural areas, my team and I aim to continue to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) in and around the town and to better understand the true impact of rural crime on our rural communities by developing closer working relationships with our stakeholders and partners.”

Sgt Hickmott will ensure the team continues to work towards tackling the existing priorities for the area which are:

•         Speeding on Newmarket Road, Royston and High Street, Ashwell

•         Continued youth engagement to maintain low youth related anti-social behaviour (ASB) and prevent future ASB
