Dear Resident
On Thursday 16th January 2025, at approximately 16:45hrs, offender(s) have committed a theft of a motorcycle on Southdown Road in Harpenden. Thanks to a tracking device on the vehicle, we know that the route taken by the offender(s) was via Grove Road, Pipers Lane, Ayres End Lane, Ferrers Lane, Down Green Lane, & Amwell Lane. Officers were able to intercept the offenders and return this motorbike to the owner. However, one offender remains outstanding having evaded an extensive Police search.
Please can I urge you to check your CCTV or doorbell cameras if you live on any of the aforementioned roads. The vehicle taken was a BMW Trophy GSA 1250 and a stolen Honda scooter was also found next to the BMW so it is believed the offenders had travelled to the incident location on the Honda scooter in order to carry out the theft.
The offenders were described as wearing dark-coloured clothing including gloves and balaclavas.
If anything is captured, please contact the police non-emergency number 101, quoting crime number: 41/4800/25.
Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activity in the area.
