Man charged following stop and search in WGC


A man has been charged with offences after being stopped and searched by an officer on proactive patrol in Welwyn Garden City.

Welwyn Hatfield Intervention* were on a late shift on Sunday 9 March, when an Audi A3 caught the attention of an officer in the Stanborough Road area.

The vehicle was stopped in Parkway and the driver was detained for a stop and search under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. 

Numerous vapes containing wraps of suspected class A drugs (cocaine) were found, along with cash and a phone.

Marko Ndoj, aged 23, of Aldrington Road in Tooting, London, was subsequently arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of class A drugs (cocaine)
  • Driving without insurance
  • Sergeant James Wingate, from the Intervention Team, said: “We hope this news reassures the community that we out there working hard to keep you safe.

    “We are serious about tackling drugs and will always take action. This result should also be a lesson to anyone tempted to drive without insurance.”

    *Intervention teams are officers who respond to 999 emergencies.
