Dear Resident
You may remember back in September last year we asked the public for help in locating Sally Hughes that had caused damage to the external police phone at Letchworth Police Station. (https://www.thecomet.net/news/24576774.stevenage-woman-wanted-connection-criminal-damage/)
Thanks to several bits of information provided by the public, we were able to locate her in Hatfield and arrest her for the offence of criminal damage. She was issued with an out of court resolution with two conditions, that she had to pay £100 compensation to Hertfordshire Police and write an apology to the area Chief Inspector.
Sally sadly failed to complete either condition and therefore we upgraded the case to the Magistrates Court, she then moved away to Scotland without informing us, as a result she failed to attend her court date and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Borders, international or otherwise do not stop us from ensuring justice is done and after a brief conversation with Police Scotland they were happy to oblige and arrested Sally on our behalf shortly afterwards.
She later appeared at Stevenage Magistrates and was ordered to pay £239.95 compensation to Hertfordshire Police and now has a conviction for the offence, which could have been avoided had she followed her conditions.
