Dear Resident As your Police and Crime Commissioner, I’m keen to ensure people from across our county can contribute to how the county is policed. I want young people to have a more prominent voice when it comes to policing and young people’s safety. So, working with not-for-profit organisation Leaders Unlocked, I've launched the Hertfordshire Youth Commission on Policing and Crime. This exciting scheme may be of interest to you or a younger family member, friend or colleague. Over the course of the project, a group of young people aged between 14-25 will receive training and guidance to engage with their peers across the county on topics related to policing and crime. They’ll collate views on issues like young persons’ safety and relationships with the police, and use those perspectives to help inform Hertfordshire Constabulary’s work. This all culminates in a final conference with me and senior local policing figures. At the heart of the Youth Commission will be a group of young people from across the county, comprising a range of backgrounds and life experiences. I’d like to invite you to consider if you know of any young people who would be interested in applying to be part of that group. If you’re under 25 yourself – maybe you’d like to apply!? You can access the application pack on my website by clicking here. The deadline for applications is Friday 2nd May 2025. If you’d like to discuss this opportunity further, you can contact me at commissioner@herts-pcc.gov.uk or Leaders Unlocked at gabrielle@leaders-unlocked.org. This is a great opportunity for young people to develop valuable skills, make a difference in their community, and gain important experience that will serve them well in the future. So, if you can think of someone who’d benefit from being involved in this exciting project, encourage them to sign up using the link above. I hope you’ll know someone who can get involved. Either way, don’t hesitate to get in touch if there’s ever anything you’d like to discuss with me as your PCC. With warm wishes, Jonathan Jonathan Ash-Edwards - Police & Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire | ||||
