Advice on Doorstep Selling

Dear Resident's

We’re issuing advice to residents around doorstep selling

Also known as cold calling or canvassing, doorstep selling involves unsolicited sales pitches being made at your home without prior appointment.

Sellers often display fake ID cards and attempt to sell poor quality items at vastly inflated prices or they state work on your property needs to be carried out when it doesn't.

we’d encourage people not to engage with unauthorised sellers.

If you receive an unexpected knock at the door, our advice would be to check who is there and what they are there for before opening it.
Politely refuse to engage with sellers and do not feel pressured to buy anything or offer money or agree to work being carried out

If you feel intimidated or threatened, please contact police.

The attached contains a downloadable window notice that you can print and display as required.
