Theft from Motor Vehicle (NUMBER PLATES) - Chenies Way, Watford

Dear Resident

Between 27/05/2025 22:00hrs to 28/05/2025 10:36hrs a theft from a vehicle occurred in Chienes Way, Watford]

Between material time frames, suspect/s have taken both front and rear index plates off of the car. This is the second theft of plates this week, that we know of, in Watford. Please keep an eye on local social media for when police will run our next “Plate Safe” event to help keep your vehicle secure.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
