Stolen vehicle recovered

Dear Resident

Two people were arrested and a stolen vehicle was recovered by officers in #HemelHempstead yesterday (Monday 30 June).

Early on Sunday morning, police received a report that a Suzuki Swift had been stolen from outside an address in the town at some point over night.

Yesterday afternoon, officers on patrol were alerted to the vehicle being driven in #HemelHempstead.

It was located and stopped, with two people inside.

A man and a woman were subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner and enquiries are continuing.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

  • Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.
  • Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle
  • When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.
  • Be aware of your keys.  Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.
  • If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag.
  • Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

  • Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activities in the area.

If you need to report a crime please call 101 or go online here.
