Dear Resident Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have been working with taxi drivers in #Dacorum, to help safeguard potential victims of courier fraud.
These scams often involve elderly and vulnerable victims being directed to hand over cash, cards or expensive goods to couriers who may arrive by taxi. The victims will have previously received a scam phone call, convincing them that they are assisting with a police investigation by doing so.
In some cases, victims are taken by taxi to withdraw large sums of cash from the bank, or to purchase expensive items, again under the belief that they are assisting the police.
This week, PCSOs set up a stall near the taxi rank in Waterhouse Street, #HemelHempstead, to offer advice and information to drivers around the signs to look out for and how they can report any concerns.
Please remember that the police would NEVER ask you to hand over cash, cards or PINs as part of an investigation. We’d urge everyone to please share this advice with elderly friends, relatives and neighbours.
