Hatfield man arrested and drugs seized

A Hatfield man has been arrested as part of continuing work to tackle drugs.

The Welwyn Hatfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team were carrying out a proactive operation on Friday 27 June when they spotted a vehicle of interest on the Great North Road.

The officers stopped the vehicle just outside Brookmans Park and a search of the driver and the vehicle was conducted. Hundreds of pounds of cash and three mobile phones were seized.

Due to further intelligence, the man – aged 31 and from Hatfield – was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.

As part of enquiries, a search was carried out at an address in Hatfield. An estimated 1500-2000 of individual bags containing cannabis was seized, along with a small quantity of suspected class A drugs (cocaine), numerous mobile phones and a Taser.

The man has been bailed while further enquiries continue.

Sergeant Robert Wilson, who leads the Welwyn Hatfield South NPT, said: “We know that you want to see us tackling drugs so I hope this news is reassuring.

“I would like to say a thank you to the Hertford Operational Support Group and our scenes of crime officers who assisted with the address search. All our officers are committed to taking drugs off the streets and we will do everything we can to achieve that.
