E-bike seized during ASB patrols

An e-bike has been seized and a teenager has been reported for traffic offences during targeted patrols in Hatfield.

The Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team were carrying out targeted anti-social behaviour (ASB) patrols in Stonecross Road on Thursday 17 July.

They came across a Surron e-bike being driven without due care and attention.

The rider left the bike and made off on foot. Officers seized the bike and conducted enquiries to try and locate him.

The rider – a 16 year old boy -  presented at Hatfield Police Station where he was reported for nine different road traffic related offences.

PC Martin Field, from the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We know the misery that ASB inflicts on communities so patrols like this are important to us. E-bikes and similar are often used to commit further criminality and we are determined to take action against those riding anti-socially.

“We hope the public are pleased that the patrols are having positive results.”
