Theft of Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident

 

Between 25/07 and 26/7 a theft of a vehicle occurred in Cecily Close 

The victim left his moped on his driveway on Cecily Close on 25/07 at approx 22:30 hours. He has come out the next morning at approx 10:30 hours and the bike has been stolen. The bike has since been located and recovered.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

  • Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.
  • Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle
  • When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.
  • Be aware of your keys.  Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.  
  • If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.
  • Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
