Motor Vehicle Crime

DearResident

I am pleased to report that we have made a couple of positive arrests during the early hours of Tuesday morning when two persons were detained and motor vehicles recovered.

You may have noticed this morning our next round of priority settings has begun today and Broxbourne has already had 28 residents complete this feedback. I would appreciate it if you could spend a few minutes to complete so I can ensure that our priorities are set in September with the most amount of information available to me from you our local residents. #yousaidwedid

Below is some helpful advice around keeping your vehicle safe.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

  • Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.
  • Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle
  • When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.
  • Be aware of your keys.  Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.
  • If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.
  • Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
  • Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activities in the area.

If you need to report a crime please call 101 or go online here.

    Regards,

    Gerry
