Theft of Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident

 

Between 02/08/2025 at 21:00 and 03/08/2025 at 11:00 a theft of a vehicle (Ford Fiesta) occurred in MENTMORE ROAD. Although the material time is quite large we believe the offence occurred closer to 23:00-23:30 on the 2nd August before leaving in an unknown direction.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

  • Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.
  • Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle
  • When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.
  • Be aware of your keys.  Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.  
  • If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.
  • Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
