Meet Special Constable Amanda Bonds.

Dear Resident

Amanda joined the constabulary a year ago as a voluntary police officer and hasn’t looked back since.

As a Special, Amanda volunteers her spare time to help protect local communities. Already armed with a valuable skillset, Amanda has been able to transfer these skills to the role and develop new ones through training and on-the-job learning which are beneficial to her everyday life.

She said: “I really enjoy working with my team. They’ve been patient and give me the time to build up my confidence on shift. I also love the adrenaline of responding to emergencies and going to situations quickly. There’s still a lot to learn but I value being part of this team and I feel respected like I’m a regular police officer.

“Being a Special Constable is flexible; you can work your volunteering hours around your day job and personal life. I tend to volunteer at weekends as that works best for me. However, you can volunteer whenever suits you.

“If anyone is thinking of joining as a Special Constable, just do it! I’d thought about it for a long time and one day decided to submit an application and I am so pleased that I did. You won’t regret it!”

Special Constables are part-time voluntary police officers.

They are highly trained and play an essential role in preventing, reducing and tackling crime and keeping the communities of Hertfordshire safe.
