Witness appeal after assault in Cheshunt

Dear Resident,

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Cheshunt.

Shortly after 9.50am on Sunday 20 July, a man was reportedly assaulted by another man on Cromwell Avenue, at the junction with Bury Green Road. 

The victim sustained a small gash to his hand. Those involved are believed to be known to each other.

Yesterday (Wednesday 13 August), a man aged in his 60s from Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, was arrested on suspicion of common assault and possession of an offensive weapon. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Matthew Mason, from the Case Investigation Team, said: “Our enquiries are continuing, and I am urging anyone with information to please come forward.

“I am also particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a Mercedes leave the scene, or anyone else who saw what happened. Please email me via Matthew.Mason@herts.police.uk.”
