Stevenage man jailed for stabbing brothers during street fight |
||
A 22 year old man from Stevenage has been sentenced to two and half years in prison following a fight in the town where two people received stab wounds. Finley Marshall, of Sheepcroft Hill, in Stevenage, was arrested following an altercation on Ridgeway on 23 August 2023, which involved two brothers who were then aged 17 and 23. On Friday (3 October), he received the following sentence: No further action was taken for breaching a conditional discharge. During the fight Marshall injured both men with a large kitchen knife he had in his possession. The 17 year old sustained an injured finger and the 23 year old was stabbed in the arm. Local officers on patrol came across the trio fighting and Marshall made off on a pedal cycle. He handed himself in to police six days later and was promptly arrested and charged with GBH, ABH and possession of a knife. He appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on Monday 7 July and pleaded guilty to all charges. Investigating officer DC Chris Jones said: “It is good to see justice finally served which will allow the victims to have closure on that night’s events. The brothers were lucky to not have been more seriously hurt and the sentence reflects the severity of the crime. “Knives used for violence will not be tolerated in Stevenage and we will continue to do all we can to tackle knife crime. This month the Knife Angel is visiting the county as a timely reminder of the devastation this type of crime can cause.” For more information on the Knife Angel visit: www.herts.police.uk/knifeangel | ||
