Hare Coursing Vehicle Seized in Standon |
||
|
Dear Resident
The Rural Operational Support Team (ROST) have been continuing to work in conjunction with the East Herts Neighbourhood Policing team (NPT) this week, on Op Galileo patrols which target illegal hare coursing and poaching type incidents.
East Herts NPT had already seized 4 vehicles on a three-day operation earlier this week.
This morning (23/11) information from the public came to light of a suspicious vehicle parked on Hadham Road, Standon that looked like a typical vehicle used in Hare coursing/poaching events, officers from ROST attended and agreed, subsequently searching and later seizing the vehicle under s8 Hunting Act 2004. The vehicle had not been MOT'd since September 2018, nor was it insured or taxed, it also didn't have a current keeper and it was registered off-road or SORN'd. The vehicle will now be destroyed preventing it from being used in further hunting offences.
Please continue to report suspicious vehicles to us on 101 or on 999 if they are actively committing offences.
Tips to prevent hare coursing and poaching: Remain vigilant in rural locations and report any suspicious activity in the area. This may include 4x4 vehicles or vans parked in remote rural location at the roadside of fields. Report groups of people seen with multiple dogs walking across cropped fields. Report locations using What Three Words App (W3W).
