Multiple arrests as officers tackle burglary spate |
||
|
Officers have arrested 11 suspects as they work to tackle a burglary spate in the county. There has been a regional and national spate of burglaries targeting large properties with gardens backing onto an open space. These have occurred in Welwyn Hatfield, Hertsmere, St Albans, Dacorum, Three Rivers, North Herts and East Herts. All properties have been detached or semi-detached. Detective Superintendent Mark Clawson said: “We have a dedicated operation tackling this crime series, with many arrests already made. We’re also working closely with colleagues from other forces. A number of suspects have been charged and are currently remanded in prison which I hope is reassuring. “I would urge residents to make sure they are taking measures to help protect their homes. We recommend the following advice: “If you spot suspicious activity please do not hesitate to contact us so we can take action.” You can report information online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. In an emergency, always call 999. | ||
