Dear Resident
I am just getting in touch to let you know what your local PCSOs have been up to this week in the local areas. Your local PCSOs have been working hard across Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth this week, continuing our commitment to being visible, accessible and responsive to the needs of the community. From spending time with residents to carrying out targeted policing activity, the team has focused on the issues that matter most to local people.
Community Engagement This week, I joined Social Prescribers at the Herts & Essex Hospital for a community Health Walk, giving residents the chance to speak with me in a friendly and relaxed environment. I also welcomed students from Herts & Essex School to the police station, providing a tour and explaining the role PCSOs, and police officers play in keeping the community safe. Throughout the week, the team continued engagement around local schools, speaking with parents and encouraging safe and considerate parking during busy drop‑off and pick‑up times.
Targeted Operations and Patrols The team has been involved in several proactive policing operations. PCSOs supported NPT officers in conducting spot checks in Sawbridgeworth, stopping vehicles entering the town as part of ongoing crime‑prevention work. In response to reports from residents, PCSO Mark Rippon conducted speed checks on London Road in Bishop’s Stortford to help promote safer driving.
Business Support and Crime Prevention Supporting local businesses remains an important priority. I worked with our Crime Prevention Officers to visit a business following reports of anti‑social behaviour and criminal damage, completing a crime‑prevention survey and offering tailored advice. Alongside PCSO Rippon and crime prevention officer Pearl Devonshire, I also visited another business to discuss shop theft prevention and ways to improve staff safety. In Sawbridgeworth, PCSO Fallon Collins engaged with local businesses to provide reassurance and guidance following theft reports.
Tackling Anti‑Social Behaviour Anti‑social behaviour continues to be a key focus for the team. PCSOs have been patrolling areas highlighted by residents as anti-social behaviour hotspots and working closely with partner agencies to develop joined‑up solutions. Officers have also been speaking with residents to gather information that may help identify those involved and support longer‑term problem solving.
Wider support and how you can support us In Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth, we are supported by the wider policing team who work around the clock to keep people safe. This includes response officers who deal with emergency calls, CID detectives who investigate crimes such as burglary, robbery and assault, and specialist units who focus on issues like acquisitive crime and domestic abuse. These teams rely on information from the public. If you see something suspicious, witness a crime, or have any information that could help keep our communities safe, please report it. Even small pieces of information can make a big difference. Is there an issue you'd like to see the team focusing on? You can have your say via our local policing priority survey. Further info is available here - Local policing priorities | Hertfordshire Constabulary Report online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to us via webchat at herts.police.uk/contact, or call 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in progress. If you see us out and about, don’t be afraid to say hello!
Kindest regards, Clare. | ||
