A man has been charged in connection to an incident where a dog was dangerously out of control in Buntingford.
Marcus Gibson, 32, and of The Tannery in Buntingford, was yesterday (Wednesday 25 March), charged with being in charge of a dog being dangerously out of control.
This follows an incident on Tuesday 24 March at the Westmill Recreation Ground. Gibson has been released on court bail and will next appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 22 April.
Police were called to reports that a tanned Pit Bull breed dog attacked a black Labrador, which sustained life-threatening injuries.
The Pit Bull was seized by police and handed to the Bedfordshire Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Dog Unit, before it was euthanised. A bulldog was also seized at the time of the incident and remains in the care of the BCH Dog Unit.
Inspector Nathan Howson from the Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “I want to pass on my thoughts to the owner of the black Labrador following this distressing incident.
“I also want to thank members of the public who brought this to the attention of police, before the dog posed an extended risk to the community.
“These incidents not only pose a threat to the public, but also to officers. I want to praise the bravery of my officers who ran towards the dog without hesitation and took decisive action to protect the innocent Labrador (Olive) and other members of public.” | ||
