Local Priorities Vehicle crime - theft from vehicles including number plates

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime – theft from / theft of, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

With an increase in theft from vehicles we have been trying to bring to people's attention to how important it is to secure your vehicle when parking and not to leave valuables visible inside the car. In a recent operation in one road alone we found 20 vehicles that had not be locked; so please do double check that they are. Increased patrols have made a difference.

Last week I held a successful police surgery with Detective Constable Shannon Woodcraft where we were handing out number plate kits that make it almost impossible to remove them from the car. We gave advice and guidance and listened to local concerns. I will shortly be announcing future dates for these sessions.
