Road operation carried out in Brookmans Park |

An operation targeting speeding drivers and overweight lorries has been carried out in Brookmans Park. The Welwyn Hatfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted the operation in Hawkshead Lane yesterday (Wednesday 1 April). It forms part of the local neighbourhood policing priorities, which include tackling anti-social behaviour and vehicle nuisance in the adjoining Bluebridge Road. Fortunately, no drivers were caught speeding. Officers also educated lorry drivers as they approached the ‘No Vehicles Over The Maximum Gross Weight Shown’ sign. Sergeant Martin Field, from the Welwyn Hatfield South NPT, said: “Speeding puts lives at risk so we were pleased to find that all drivers were abiding by the speed limit. “Lorries have to abide by a maximum weight limit to ensure safety. Overloaded lorries are prone to losing stability and they require a longer distance to stop, which is dangerous in emergencies. We spoke to a number of lorry drivers to educate and remind them of the weight limit. “We are committed to keeping the roads safe and we would like to say a thank you to all those who use our local roads safely and responsibly.” You can use Herts Connected to let us know what you think we should be prioritising in your area.
