Witness appeal following assault in Stevenage

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Stevenage.

It was reported that at around 6.30pm on Thursday (9 April), an 18-year-old man was threatened near the fountain in Town Square. He left the area in the direction of Puregym on Queensway where he was assaulted, suffering minor injuries, and was allegedly threatened with weapons.

Stevenage CID Investigator Fran Aylin, said: “We have made arrests and charged two people in relation to this incident, however we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any part of it, whether in the Town Square, on Queensway or at Puregym.

“We would also be interested to know if anyone saw a weapon being discarded.

*A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to being under 18, has been charged with assault and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place. A 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named due to being under 18, has been charged with threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place. They are due to appear at Stevenage Youth Court on Thursday 21 May.
