Dear Resident,
Between 20:44 - 20:57 a Burglary has taken place on Nicolas Road in Elstree.
Suspects have arrived in the area around 20:40 via Deacons Hill Road. A Dark Vehicle that resembles a Mercedes estate has pulled up to a house on Nicolas Road and 4 suspects have exited the vehicle and gained entry to a property via a first floor window. A messy search of the property has occurred and suspects have been inside around 4-5 mins before exiting. All suspects then made their way back to the vehicle where driver had waited outside, and the vehicle then made off towards Deacons Hill around 20:54.
We are looking to gain further footage of the suspect vehicle leaving or arriving on Nicolas Road during the times giving. Upon viewing CCTV already supplied to us there is a vehicle that was seen just behind the suspect vehicle used, turning into Nicolas Close a Dark VW Golf and potentially may have some Dashcam footage that would be very useful in our investigation.

Tips to prevent burglary:
Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed. Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features. Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place. Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages. Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home. Use laminate glass where possible for any rear doors or windows. If this is not practicable, consider the use of security film over existing windows. Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home. Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera, or a monitored burglar alarm. Consider adding trellis to any side or rear boundaries to add extra height up to a maximum of 2 metres.
Please be vigilant and do report any suspicious activity or behaviour in the area. If you need to report a crime please call 101 or go online here.
