An address in Watford linked to persistent anti-social behaviour and drug related activity is now off limits after police and partner agencies worked to secure a Closure Order. The order was granted at St Albans Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Thursday 29 October) and prevents anyone from entering the flat in Solar Court, on King Georges Avenue, for three months. Anyone who does so can be arrested. The application was made by the Community Safety Unit (CSU), with support from the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and Chime Housing, following numerous complaints about the tenant and visitors to the address. Sergeant Andrew Blackwood, from the CSU, said: “Officers were called to the address on numerous occasions due to drug related activity and anti-social behaviour, which was having a detrimental effect on those living in the area. “Residents should not have to tolerate this sort of behaviour and the impact on their lives in this way. “I hope this has reassured the community that we take reports like this very seriously and, along with our partners, have worked extremely hard to gather evidence to support the closure order application. “We will use every available tactic to tackle anti-social behaviour and I would urge members of the community to continue to report any behaviour of this nature to the police.” You can report information online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. In an emergency, always call 999. | ||
