Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Tackle theft, begging, street drinking, drug dealing and substance misuse and associated ASB in shopping precincts and shops across North Stevenage.

Issued 01 September 2025

Plain clothed and high visibility patrols will continue. We have already executed numerous drugs warrants, which has led to the arrest of numerous offenders and the seizure of drugs and weapons. Reports of this type of ASB have reduced, although there is still more to do and it will remain as a priority.
We will continue to work with Stevenage Borough Council to revoke licenses for premises linked to ASB and drug misuse.
We will continue to work with partner agencies under Operation URBAN across Stevenage, to provide support and intervention for those sleeping rough. High visibility patrols and work with partner agencies and businesses will continue to address this issue.
There is currently an ongoing operation to tackle theft from shops at the Oval which has resulted in numerous arrests and prosecutions for shoplifting.

Actioned 01 September 2025

Tackle nuisance driving and vehicles across the area.

Issued 01 September 2025

We have carried out speed enforcement operations in areas where local residents have reported issues, but this continues to be an issue in the area, so remains a priority for us.
E-scooters, off road bikes and mopeds being used illegally on park land have been targeted and to date more than 26 e-scooters have been seized across the town.
